I have decided to launch a modest campaign, starting and ending with this entry (I know, modest is absolutely the word), for the introduction of the word BAGONISE into the English language. The winning entry in a Radio 4 competition to find a new word for the English language in the 1980s, it describes that unique feeling you have whilst waiting for your baggage to arrive on the airport carousel after everyone has collected theirs and left. Familiar as I am with airports and keen as I continue to be to only use hand luggage wherever possible, the term is vital if only as a reminder of what I am trying to avoid.
